TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is a professional German football club based in Sinsheim, Baden-Württemberg. Universally known as "Die Kraichgauer" (referencing their home Kraichgau region), the team competes in the Bundesliga and plays its home matches at the modern PreZero Arena, a 30,000-capacity venue built in Sinsheim.
Founded in 1899 as a gymnastics club before establishing a football section in 1921, Hoffenheim spent almost a century operating as a village amateur team in the fifth and sixth tiers. Dressed in their classic blue-and-white kits, the club's destiny transformed completely in the early 2000s through the financial backing and vision of software billionaire Dietmar Hopp, a former youth player at the club.
Under manager Ralf Rangnick, Hoffenheim executed a meteoric rise through the German league system, securing back-to-back promotions to reach the Bundesliga for the first time in 2008 and famously winning the autumn championship (Herbstmeister) in their debut top-flight season. The club reached new heights under Julian Nagelsmann, finishing 3rd in 2018 to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time in their history.
Hoffenheim maintains regional Baden-Württemberg rivalries with VfB Stuttgart, Karlsruher SC, and SC Freiburg, alongside high-stakes Southwest encounters against 1. FSV Mainz 05.
