Borussia Dortmund, commonly known as BVB or simply Dortmund, is one of German football’s most prestigious and passionately supported institutions, based in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. Dressed in their iconic black and yellow (Schwarzgelben) kits, the team competes in the Bundesliga and plays its home matches at the legendary Signal Iduna Park (Westfalenstadion), famous worldwide for its 25,000-capacity "Yellow Wall" (Südtribüne).

Founded in 1909 by a group of young men in the Trinity Youth church group, the club takes its name "Borussia" from the nearby Borussia brewery. Dortmund quickly grew into a regional powerhouse, claiming three German championships in the 1950s and 1960s before making European history in 1966 by becoming the first German club to win a European trophy, lifting the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Dortmund’s fiercest and most heated rivalry is with Ruhr Valley neighbors FC Schalke 04, a iconic clash known as the Revierderby. They also contest high-stakes modern title encounters against Bayern Munich, globally billed as Der Klassiker.
