Everton Football Club

Everton Football Club is one of English football’s most historic and enduring institutions, based in Liverpool, Merseyside. Widely known as "The Toffees," the club competes in the Premier League and holds a legendary status as a founding member of both the Football League in 1888 and the Premier League in 1992.

Founded in 1878 as St. Domingo's FC, the club adopted the name Everton in 1879. The Toffees spent more than 130 historic years playing at Goodison Park—one of the world's first purpose-built football stadiums—before transitioning to their state-of-the-art home at Bramley-Moore Dock on the Liverpool waterfront. Dressed in their classic royal blue shirts and white shorts, Everton has spent more seasons in the top tier of English football than any other club in history.

Everton’s trophy cabinet boasts nine English top-flight titles, five FA Cups, and a European Cup Winners' Cup triumph in 1985 during a glorious era under Howard Kendall. The nickname "The Toffees" originates from traditional local sweet shops near Everton Village, including Mother Noblett's Toffee Shop, which handed out free Everton Mints to spectators on matchdays.

The club shares one of English football’s most intense and famous local rivalries with cross-town neighbors Liverpool. Known as the Merseyside Derby, these fiery encounters remain the longest-running top-flight derby in English football history.
