VfB Stuttgart is one of German football’s most prominent, historic, and tradition-rich institutions, based in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg. Universally known as "Die Schwaben" (The Swabians) or "Die Roten" (The Reds), the club competes in the Bundesliga and plays its home matches at the iconic MHPArena (formerly Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion), a modern venue with a capacity of over 60,000.

Founded in 1893 as FV Stuttgart before merging with Kronen-Club Cannstatt in 1912, the team traditionally plays in white shirts adorned with its iconic red chest ring (Brustring). Stuttgart established itself as a national powerhouse in the 1950s by capturing two national championships and two DFB-Pokals, cementing its role as the sporting flagship of the Swabian region.

In the Bundesliga era, Stuttgart added three more national titles (1984, 1992, and 2007) and reached European finals in both the UEFA Cup (1989) and the European Cup Winners' Cup (1998). Known for its elite youth development program that produced legendary talents like Jürgen Klinsmann, Sami Khedira, Mario Gómez, and Timo Werner, VfB returned to top-flight prominence in 2024 by securing a magnificent Bundesliga runner-up finish to return to the UEFA Champions League.

Stuttgart maintains intense regional rivalries, most notably against cross-town neighbors Stuttgarter Kickers in the Stuttgart Derby, alongside high-stakes Southwest battles against Karlsruher SC and SC Freiburg in the Baden-Württemberg Derby.
