FC Augsburg
FC Augsburg is a professional German football club based in Augsburg, Bavaria. Universally known as "Fuggerstädter"—a reference to the city's famous Renaissance banking family, the Fuggers—the club competes in the top tier of German football, the Bundesliga, playing its home matches at the modern WWK Arena.
Founded in 1907 as FC Alemania Augsburg before merging to form Fußball-Club Augsburg in 1969, the team traditionally plays in white, red, and green kit colors representing the city's municipal crest. For decades, Augsburg navigated the lower tiers of German football, with their most iconic 20th-century figure being World Cup winner Helmut Haller, who returned to his boyhood club in the 1970s.
The club’s modern era is defined by remarkable consistency against all odds. Securing historic promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011, Augsburg has successfully maintained top-flight status ever since.
